Treatment of depression

Depression is currently referred to as a mental state of a person that is accompanied by a prolonged decrease in mood and sadness. And even when they try to classify this depression, they talk, for example, about severe or mild depression, prolonged or masked, i.e. usually in this attempt to clarify they rely simply on the severity of low mood, as well as the stability of this condition. Although, in fact, many different mental states of a person fall under this characteristic, some of which can be described as a disease from a medical point of view, while others do not.
The human mood itself is alien to medical classification, it only acts as a kind of evidence of a particular mental process, certain circumstances of life, and only the person who experiences and feels is able to eventually find the meaning of his experience, to tell about his suffering.
Despite the fact that the word depression hides a multitude of mental disorders and psychological problems of a completely different nature and requiring, accordingly, different approaches to treatment, they have in common the fact that each time we are talking about a person suffering, in need of help and looking for it. In itself, human suffering is always evidence of some truth that only the person himself knows, perhaps unconsciously, it does not need to be evaluated, it needs to be answered.
One of these universal answers is medication, and modern pharmacology offers a wide range of antidepressants. But it is important to be aware that often the direct answer is not directed at eliminating the cause, but at the effect, in other words, the antidepressant affects a person's mood without any question about the meaning of suffering. And as a result, a new form of chemical dependence of our era, when millions of people can no longer exist normally in the world without the constant use of antidepressants, which do not cure, but only bring temporary relief.
The answer offered by psychoanalysis is to provide an opportunity to tell a person about his suffering, to find its meaning and causes. This does not mean at all rejecting the help offered by modern psychiatry, but an attempt to structure treatment so that it is about the cure that the patient is looking for, rather than offering him only relief. ebiteua.com
